Developers Tackle PvP and Desert-Related Issues in Dune: Awakening
The team behind Dune: Awakening, Funcom, has announced that they are actively working to resolve several gameplay issues reported by players. One of the main concerns involves problems encountered when venturing into the treacherous Deep Desert, such as lengthy respawn times and other bugs that hinder the gaming experience.
Addressing PvP and Respawn Problems
Despite already confirming that a fix is underway for players frustrated by being repeatedly killed by helicopters during PvP battles—a problem that has significantly impacted gameplay—the creative team is committed to improving the overall PvP experience. Joel Bylos, Funcom’s Chief Creative Officer, reassured fans in a Reddit comment that the developers are implementing multiple updates and bug fixes.
“We are working on a bunch of changes and fixes to these issues. Please bear with us,” Bylos stated, emphasizing the company’s dedication to player satisfaction.
Community Feedback and Specific Concerns
The comments from the community, particularly a Reddit post by rustypipe7889, shed light on specific pain points. The main complaint revolves around the instant respawn timer in PvP zones, where players note that even after a prolonged and intense battle, the losing team can reappear almost immediately in the same area, disrupting the flow of combat.
Endgame Content and Player Motivation Challenges
While some players have expressed frustrations with the endgame content, Bylos has not yet responded directly to these particular issues. A Reddit user named Darqsat described the endgame as “a total mess,” explaining that the Deep Desert lacks engaging content for PvE players. According to reports, once players reach Tier 5 and obtain Duraluminium, there is little incentive to continue exploring or building.
“There’s nothing in the Deep Desert to attract PvE players, so it often feels deserted, filled mostly with aggressive PvP enthusiasts. The end of PvE content is at Tier 5, with no legendary quests, vehicle parts, or base-building resources to motivate further exploration. Many players simply leave or experiment with different builds,” Darqsat commented.
Record-Breaking Player Numbers and Positive Launch Reception
Despite these ongoing issues, Dune: Awakening recently achieved a new milestone, reaching over 189,000 concurrent players over the weekend—a testament to its popularity. The game launched with strong reviews, earning a “very positive” rating on Steam shortly after its release on June 10.
Within hours, the game attracted more than 142,000 players simultaneously on Valve’s platform alone. Our ongoing Dune: Awakening review delves deeper into the gameplay experience and features.
